I am a freak magnet.
Standing at the back of my car, loading things into the trunk and a guy walked up to me and held up a crucifix. It was a tiny thing about the length of a pen cap.. made of pewter or some other non shiny metal. He held it up and looked directly into my eyes with this crazy intense stare.
“Do you want this?” He maintained eye contact looking so serious…
I said, “No, thanks” and another beat past with the very strong eye contact and then he turned and walked away.
He didn’t offer the crucifix to anyone else in the parking lot. He just walked off.
How strange.

Обзор экономических событий в мире: июль 2009 г.
Риск глобальной депрессии становится очень значительным. Уже больше года идёт самый настоящий обвал. Взять хотя бы Испанию, которая совсем ещё недавно слыла самым перспективным – в плане промышленного роста – регионом Европы. Как рекой туда стекались прямые инвестиции – например, в автомобильную отрасль. А что же теперь? Безработица 18%, падение цен на недвижимость в разы. Многие экономисты указывают на то, что имеющий место кризис почти в точности повторяет ход Великой Депрессии 30-х, а кое в чём оказывается даже хуже (см. сопровождающие графики).

So very tired.
The last week has been a whir of movement and scenery and emotion.
I spent Friday with my girls, laughing, talking, dishing... something I've been unable... or maybe unwilling?? to do up till now. Now that some of the things that have happened in my life have started to be seen (and felt) as more blessings instead of banes, I feel happier and am looking forward to the things to come.
Saturday was Val's third annual Tiki Party, which was a lot of fun, as always. I saw a lot of people who I hadn't seen since the same party last year. I was VERY cold, even though it wasn't all that cold outside. Everyone else was walking around in bathing suits and I was wrapped in my towel shivering. I thought for a moment I was almost feverish. When I got home I had a hot bath and it was sooooo nice to climb into my own bed, sink into the soft pillows and drift off. I actually slept.
Today the weather was gorgeous. I think it hit 28 degrees and was bright and sunny. I spent some time outside on my deck and washing the outside of the kitchen windows. (I can see out them now!). I am so loving my new house. I still have boxes everywhere, mostly in my office.. but they are slowly getting unpacked.
I nearly garliced Matt to death with the supper I made him. The taste of garlic has been VERY appealing to me as of late. I want it on everything I eat. I bought a giant bushel of it to cook with and WOOHOO was the spaghetti sauce garlicy! But it tasted really good and he liked it. He likes everything I make. I'm not sure if that's because he's bad at cooking for himself and will take whatever he can get, or if he REALLY does like my cooking. I suspect that even if he didn't... he wouldn't tell me. He's like that.
It's supposed to rain most of the week, but then its gonna clear up just in time for A Taste of Edmonton. WOOT! I'm so excited for deep fried mars bars! (Okay.. maybe I'll only have half).
Speaking of yummy, I am so so so so so so madly in love with Gabriel Byrne. I can't explain it, I just find him amazing and sexy and fascinating. I've always liked him in movies, but this new 'crush' has caught me off guard.
I think I'll go watch one of his movies.....
